Luman Knutson was born on January 15, 1912 to John and Inger Torgerson Knutson in Glenville, MN. Luman was baptized and confirmed at the Round Prairie Lutheran Church. He attended country school and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1930. Luman was united in marriage to Louise Cunningham on February 26, 1940 in Northwood, IA. He took up the trade of sheet metal work and became a journeyman sheetmetal worker. From 1942-1946 Luman worked in the Navy shipyards in Bremerton, WA. He then returned to Albert Lea and went to work for Edwardson Sheet Metal in Albert Lea, later, for Ideal Heating in Austin and finally for Johnson Sheet Metal in Albert Lea retiring from there in the mid 1970's. Luman was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where he served as an usher and on the finance committee. He was also a member of the Albert Lea Rifle Club. Luman enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool at the Senior Citizens Center and collecting old tools. Survivors include his wife, Louise; sons, Richard Knutson and John and his wife Kathy Knutson both of Albert Lea; granddaughters, Julie Larson and Janice and her husband Brad Adams; great-grandsons, Jacob Larson and Hunter Adams; brothers-in-law, Lewis Cunningham and Vernon Cunningham of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Nita Blowers of Albert Lea; cousin, Cora Torgerson and many nieces and nephews. Luman was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Olga, Alma, Mildred and Viola; brothers, Lester, William, Henry, Arnold, and Clifford.
