Lucille Sullivan Hyland was born May 13, 1911 in rural Ellendale, MN, the daughter of Cornelius and Margaret Burnes Sullivan. She attended schools in Ellendale, Owatonna, and graduated from St. Theodore's School in Albert Lea in 1928. She graduated from Albert Lea Business College in 1929, and worked at various businesses in Albert Lea until 1938, when she moved to St. Paul, where she was employed by the Department of Agriculture. It was there that she met Thomas L. Hyland, whom she later married in 1941 at St. Aidan's Church in Bath. They returned to Albert Lea in 1948. Lucille was employed as Deputy Clerk at the Municipal Court, and later at St. Theodore's Church as a secretary until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary Past President, Treasurer, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Treasurer, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees NARFE. She also served as Treasurer of the Resident's Social Organization at her Senior Court complex. Her hobbies were sewing, dancing, and enjoying activities with her grandchildren. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing projects for many people. Lucille is survived by daughters Jan Earl Cunard, Woodbridge, VA; Carol Dave Eller, Monticello, MN; and son Tom Kathy Hyland of Eagan, MN. She had 9 grandchildren: Jim Christine Krahulec, Fairfax, VA; John Victoria Krahulec, Leesburg, VA; Jennifer Fred Gorter, Herndon, VA; Kristen Jeremy Moris, Monticello, MN; Bryan and Brandon Eller, Monticello, MN; and Annie, Mary, and Patrick Hyland of Eagan, MN. Great-grandchildren are: Ryan and Connor Krahulec, Fairfax, VA; Reed and Alanna Krahulec, Leesburg, VA; Jack Chaney and Marissa Gorter, Herndon, VA; Joshua, Zachary, and Kamryn Moris, Monticello, MN; and Kaitlynne Eller, Shakopee, MN. She also has many nieces and nephews who survive her. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas L Hyland, and siblings William Sullivan, Raymond Sullivan, Adele Sullivan Alden, Mary Sullivan Sandvold, and Lewis Sullivan.
