Loretta D. Hartman

January 25, 1918 — September 11, 2004

Loretta Dorothea Kirsch Hartman was born on January 25, 1918 in New Ulm, MN to Joseph and Anne Bauman Kirsch. She was baptized into the Catholic Faith at St. Mary's Church in New Ulm and attended catholic schools. In 1934 she moved with her family to Albert Lea. Loretta married Lloyd R. Hartman in Charles City, Iowa on July 8, 1939. They lived in the Albert Lea area all of their married life. Loretta did waitress work until opening her own restaurant, Club 16, in 1947. She and Lloyd owned and operated Club 16 for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Loretta was a dear friend to many and loved and enjoyed the little children of her nieces and nephews. Survivors include her sister Elizabeth Betty Roche of Albert Lea; brother Vernon Kirsch of Hastings, MN; brother-in-law Wayne Thompson of Faribault; sisters-in-law Dorothy Kirsch, Faith Kirsch, and Genevieve Kirsch, all of Albert Lea and Wyone Kirsch of Hastings; many nieces and nephews; and her little friend and companion, Tessie. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Anne Kirsch; her husband Lloyd in 1995, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Bessie Hartman; brothers Joseph Kirsch, Anthony Kirsch, Thomas Kirsch, and John Kirsch; sisters Alice Rollins, Hilda Christensen, and Rose Marie Thompson; brothers-in-law Gordon Sawyer, Timothy Rollins, Ray Christensen, Leo Roche, and Pat Hartman; and her sisters-in-law Bernice Storrer and Florence Hartman.
