Lorenzo Ethel Pickavance was born October 12, 1912, to Alvin and Maybelle Collins Houger in Flaxville, Montana. When she was six years old, the family moved to Osakis, MN, where she attended school and graduated from Osakis High School in 1931. While in high school, Pat worked in the first Herberger's store located in Osakis and had been friends with the original Mr. & Mrs. Herberger. She was actively involved in music in high school, as well as in church and the community. In 1933, she married Lewis Anderson and they had one daughter, Myrna Lou. During World War II, they lived in many army camps, including one year in New Jersey. Pat and Myrna lived in Minneapolis for several years before moving to Albert Lea in 1950. In 1951, Pat married William Pickavance and became "Mom" to his children, Carol and Curtis. In Minneapolis, she was a bookkeeper for a wholesale paper company and in Albert Lea a bookkeeper for Palace Furniture and the Peterson Funeral Home. Pat has been involved in a lot of volunteer work. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women, Naeve Hospital Auxiliary, Retired Teacher's Association, Travel Class, and the First Presbyterian Church. Pat and Bill spent 40 summers enjoying their cabin in Ely, MN, and several winters in Arizona and Alabama. Survivors include her step children, Curtis and his wife, Evi of Dunnellon, FL, and Carol and her husband, Ron of Longmont, CO; grandchildren: Brian Pickavance, Mark Troe, and Krystanne Troe Borgen; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pat is also survived by her very special friends, Merlin and Pat Huddleson, with whom she had made her home for the last several years. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her daughter; brothers: Daryl, Oryn, and Aldyn;and a sister-in-law. Memorials preferred to the First Presbyterian Church Building fund.
