Lois Rose Godeke

June 23, 1930 — February 24, 2018

Memorial services for Lois Rose Godeke, age 87, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Hollandale Christian Reformed Church.  Rev. Wendell Davelaar will officiate.  Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Lois was lovingly surrounded by her family when she went home to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 24, 2018.

Lois Rose Godeke was born June 23, 1930 in Springfield, MN, the daughter of Heiko and Rose (Davin) Veldman.  She grew up north of Hollandale and attended school in Hollandale.  On August 12, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to William Godeke at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She worked for a time as a truck driver for Sorensen Brothers, Inc. but loved her job as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother most. Lois was a member of Hollandale Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the Ladies Aide.  She was also a member of Far Horizons Hiking Club and was the Honorary Artillery Commander of the New Ulm Battery.  Lois enjoyed flower gardening, golfing, and hiking.  She cherished the time she spent with family and friends in Minnesota and Arizona.

Lois is survived by her husband of 69 years, William; children, Sharon McCallum, Larry Godeke, Lora (Kent) Karsjens, and Cindy Clapp; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Brand, Brian (Holly) Karsjens, Jason (Brittaney) Clapp, and Colton Clapp; great-grandchildren, Brayden Karsjens, Tearick Clapp, and Abigail, Gwyneth, Simon, and Marcus Brand; sisters, Alice Cox and Virginia (Bill) Coburn; sisters-in-law, Peggy Matter, Betty Veldman, and Virginia Miller; many nieces and nephews; and family and friends in Arizona.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Floyd (Carmen) Matter, Darvin ‘Bud’ Matter, Harold (Patty) Veldman, and Richard Veldman; stepsisters, Rencina (Charles) Smith and Gertude Veldman; stepbrother, Ralph Veldman; brothers-in-law, Chuck Cox and Art Smith; son-in-law, Michael Clapp; and grandson, Cody Clapp.

Memorials preferred to Hollandale Christian School.
