Funeral services for Lillian Doris Perkins, age 96, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Silver Lake Lutheran Church.  Rev. Randy Baldwin will officiate.  Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  
Lillian died Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society.
Lillian Doris (Bakken) Perkins was born on March 28, 1918 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of Oswald W. and Kristine (Christian) Bakken.  Lillian grew up in the Albert Lea area.  She attended Albert Lea Public Schools and Wells Teacher Training.  On June 6, 1939 Lillian was united in marriage to Melford K. Perkins at Silver Lake Lutheran Church.  Lillian worked as a school teacher, at Piggly Wiggly in the meat department, was a house wife and she retired from Streaters as a secretary.  She was a member of Silver Lake Lutheran Church where she was active with the ladies aid and circle.  Lillian volunteered for the Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea Y organization and the Albert Lea Art Center.  She enjoyed being involved in the Albert Lea Y swimnastics program, playing cards and square dancing.  Most of all Lillian enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.  
Survivors include her son Terry (Carol) Perkins; daughter Jayne (Gary) Gilbert; grandchildren Lori (Tony) Zizzo, Kelley (Nick) Turnmire and Deanna Cone; great-grandchildren Brendan, Brooke, Sophia, Parker, Lauren, Nathan and Avery; sister-in-law Lorraine Bakken and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melford K. Perkins; sister Helen (Clifford) Ayers; brothers Grant (Eva) Bakken, Hershel Bakken and Manly (Ethel) Bakken; brother-in-law Arnold (Evelyn) Perkins and nephew Mark Perkins.    
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Peace and Power or the Albert Lea Y program.
