Lillian Alvilda Hoyne

Lillian was born on July 31, 1913 to Lars and Anna Langeland Landaas in Freeborn County, MN. She was a life long resident of Freeborn County. Lillian was baptized and confirmed at the Emmons Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools near Emmons. When Lillian was 13 years old her mother passed away, leaving her father to care for the family and farm. Since the farm was the means of support for the family, as the oldest girl, Lillian dropped out of school to help her father raise her siblings. Stories told at family gatherings of their growing years, leave many happy and joyous memories. Also, they leave us questioning how they survived despite some of the mischievous pranks played on one another. Lillian was united in marriage to Alert B. Hoyne on April 30, 1938 in Northwood, Iowa. She was a member of the Lunder Lutheran Church and was the oldest member at the time of her death. Before moving to Good Samaritan Center in January of 2004, she was an active member of her church. Lillian was the church custodian for many years. She was active in the Ladies Aid and mission circle. Lillian served as the Sunday school Superintendent and teacher. She belonged to the District 66 mothers club and Freeman and Twin Lakes 4-H clubs. Lillian was an active life member of the American War Dads and Auxiliary where she was honored served as the local and state president. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens, American Legion, VFW and Eagles Auxiliary. Lillian enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bus trips and her garden and birthday clubs. Lillian was determined in life; she traveled alone to Norway to visit Landaas relatives and learn more about her heritage. This was a life long dream that she cherished. Lillian worked at Kansota Farms, Land-O-Lakes and Olson Mfg. She also did house cleaning in the Albert Lea area. Her former clients and families remained her friends. It was hard watching Parkinson's disease take over her life. She depended on the care of her son Lyle who made it possible for her to remain in her home until it was necessary for her to enter the Good Samaritan Center. Survivors include her children, Wanda J.R. Dorman of Albert Lea, Norman Hoyne of Kilkenny, MN; grandchildren, Daniel MaryJo Dorman, Paul Cindy Dorman and families of Albert Lea, Bruce Deb Hoyne, David Francie Hoyne and families of Minneapolis, Melanie Kevin Johnson and Valerie Washington and their families of Albert Lea. Brother Alfred Mary Landaas of Albert Lea; sister Dorothy Reyerson of Silver Lake, IA; sisters-in-law Dorothy Holmquist, Conni Hoyne, Harriet Wangen, and Vange Landaas, all of Albert Lea; and brother-in-law Palmer Hanson of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; husband, Alert; son Lyle Darlene Hoyne; grandson Jay Dorman; a brother and sister in infancy; brothers Lloyd Landaas, and Oscar Beulah Landaas; sisters Martha Lloyd Klukow, Myrtle Sam Peterson, brothers-in-law, Maurice Reyerson, Grant Arlene Hoyne, Cliff Arvilla Hoyne, Herb Hoyne, Earl Mary Hoyne, and Lloyd Hoyne; Ray Lee, Ray Holmquist, Marv Wangen, and Bernice Hanson.
