Leona Roberts

Funeral services for Leona L. Roberts, age 90, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Our Father’s House in Albert Lea.  Pastor Charles Johnsrud and Pastor Don Larson will officiate. Interment will be at Mansfield Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Leona Lillian Roberts was born February 28, 1928 in Kiester, Minnesota, the daughter of Thomas and Vera (Hintz) Wipplinger.  She grew up in Waverly, Iowa and attended school in Kiester.  Leona was united in marriage to Leon Roberts on December 17, 1948.  She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, and making her own soap.  She was a member of REACT, an amateur radio organization.  Leona loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Leona is survived by her children, Gretchen Hulleman, Anna (Robert) Hernandez, Leona “Onie” (Phillip) Helland, and Leon “Butch” (Carrie) Roberts; stepson, Cullins (Barb) Roberts; son-in-law, James Carlsen; grandchildren, Heather (Allan) Wittrock, Jennafer (Hunar) Khailani, Lucas (Devan) Brua, Clint (Ashley) Brua, Seth Brua, Troy Brua, Amanda Brua, Marcy (Keith) Thompson, Teresa (Randy) Rohl, Lacy Carlsen, Erin Carlsen, Krystal (Kevin) Carlsen, Shane Besco, Rusty Besco, Wendy (Charles) Besco, Julie Dempewolf, Marshall Roberts, Christopher (Krystal) Helland, OnaLee (Dale) VanHeiden, Michael Helland, Melissa (Otis) Sorbo, Nicky Helland, Barry Roberts, and Chad Roberts; 42 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon; daughters, Lezlie Carlsen and RaNae Roberts; and brother, Arnold Wipplinger.
