Lawrence A. White was born on December 12, 1919 in Nunda Township of Freeborn County, the son of Allan and Emma Bast White. He has been a lifelong resident of Freeborn County and graduated from Emmons High School in 1938. On November 22, 1941, Lawrence was united in marriage to Joy M. Hall at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Following their marriage, Lawrence entered the Army and served in the Infantry from 1942 - 1945. He was in Normandy, and the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge from the service, Lawrence returned home and went to work for Wilson's where he worked for 42 years. He also farmed. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, a life member of the American Legion and the VFW, and was also a member of the DAV. Lawrence enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking.. Survivors include his wife, Joy, sons Larry and his wife JoAnn White of Ft. Collins, CO and Robert and his wife Miriam White of Albert Lea, grandchildren Racquel, Eric, Michelle, Noah, Autumn, and Dustin; and great-grandchildren Mason and Lilianna. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Paul in 1950, five sisters and two brothers.
