Lawrence John Rauenhorst was born on August 24, 1929 to Lawrence and Amy Gilson Rauenhorst in Wells, MN. He attended Glenville School and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1947. Lawrence entered into the United States Army in January of 1951. During a furlough, he was united in marriage to Darlene Nerad on May 24, 1951 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He was stationed in Japan for 17 months. Lawrence started as a mail boy and became a programmer for the first computer at Wilson & Co. working there for 18 years. He went on to work for Streater Store Fixtures as the director of management information systems. Lawrence was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Twin Lakes and a former 20 year member of the Church of St. Theodore in Albert Lea. He enjoyed farming, fishing, camping, traveling, canoeing, hunting, snowmobiling and even water skiing until he was 71 years old. Larry loved old time music and blue grass. He played accordion and guitar in a neighborhood band entertaining at rest homes and "barn dances". Many bluegrass festivals were enjoyed. Larry also enjoyed Saturday morning breakfasts with neighbors, family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; children, Carol Posthumus and husband Mark of Rapid City, SD, Ramona Schipull and husband Dennis of Northwood, IA, and Mark Rauenhorst and wife Teri of Albert Lea, MN; grandchildren, Jenny and Fred Kellam of Broomfield, CO, Charlie Posthumus of Rapid City, SD, Jon and Dr. Pam Lutsey of St. Paul, MN, Kristi Schipull of Corinth, MS, Ben Schipull of Ames, IA, Michael and Travis Rauenhorst of Albert Lea; sister, Irene Butler of Albert Lea; and one niece, one nephew and many cousins. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Andy Posthumus; sister Loretta and husband Art Strehlow; and brother-in-law Jim Butler.
