Larry R Lillibridge “A farmer” who spent his life tending the fields and loving those around him, died on May 13th, 2023 surrounded by his family on his family farm. Larry was born on February 17, 1942 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Willard and Evelyn Lillibridge of Alden.
Growing up on the farm, Larry attended county school near his farm in his youth. His fondest memories started here. He especially enjoyed playing pranks on his teachers and his adventures walking and riding bike to school with the neighboring children. He then went on to attend Alden High School, where he met Ruth Ann, and later married her in 1960. He was very active in the FFA and 4H where he spent many days at the local fair showing his pigs and the State Fair working the cattle/horse barns and making great friendships.
After graduating school, he became a farmer and worked the land with his father and Ruth alongside him.
Larry will always be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to the land, farming, and family. He worked long hours and countless days ensuring that every crop was planted and harvested to perfection. Despite the hard work required in farming, Larry’s personality remained strong and faithful to the end.
In addition to farming Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandkids that often spent their days on the farm by his side.
He was an avid collector of old forgotten treasures. He loved feeding and watching the birds and wildlife that shared the land with him. He and Ruth enjoyed their camping trips, especially to state parks and Yogi bear with their family. He loved the circus, parades and especially carousel rides bringing back fond memories and joy of his childhood. He could always be found at a toy/train show. He and Ruth spend many weekends wandering flea markets.
Larry is survived by his 4 children. Peggy (Marty), Renae (Jim), Mike (Colette) and Heidi, all of the Alden area. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann, parents Willard and Evelyn, along with three brothers whom died in infancy.
A respectful farewell has been said by family and the community members alike who grew so fond of Larry over the decades spent on his farm. Over the years they couldn’t help but smile thinking of him. His life was well lived and will be missed.
In memory of Larry the family asks you to wear red to honor his love of his tractors and favorite color.
