Kenneth O. Monson, 82, went home to be with his Lord on September 13, 2004. A lifelong resident of Emmons, Kenneth was born November 3, 1921, to Nels and Ella Halvorson Monson at Walters, MN. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church at Walters. His parents and siblings moved to Emmons March 1, 1932, where he was later confirmed at Emmons Lutheran Church. He began to operate the home farm after graduating from high school in Emmons. He married Arline L. Nelson from Twin Lakes, February 15, 1942, at Lunder Lutheran Church. They farmed until 1963 and then rented the farmland out. Kenneth then went to work at Streater Industries in Albert Lea and worked there until 1984. They moved into Emmons in 1987, living there until 2002. In May of that same year, they moved to Bancroft Creek Estates in Albert Lea, living there to the present time. Kenneth was an active member of Emmons Lutheran Church and served in many areas including President of the Church Council and teaching Sunday school for 21 years. He served many years as secretary-treasurer of the Emmons Creamery and as officer for the Sons of Norway where they were both members. They were also members of the Elks Club. Kenneth's hobby for many years was repairing clocks. He enjoyed receiving clocks from all over southern Minnesota and northern Iowa to restore them to working order. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His family and friends can attest to his kind, gentle, and patient spirit. He truly defined the term gentleman and he will be greatly missed. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Arline; son, Gay Phyllis of Emmons; daughter, Katherine Gary of Long Lake, MN; son, Leslie Nancy of Litchfield, MN; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Monson Haukoos of Albert Lea and Carma Monson Buendorf of Wells; and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin and Earl; sister, Pearl Monson Prescher; and great-grandson, Benjamin Monson.
