Kay Lillian Hanson

July 1, 1939 — April 7, 2010

Kay Lillian Hanson was born on July 1, 1939 to Bernard and Elaine Nelson Ramsdell in Alden. She graduated from Alden Schools and attended Austin Jr. College for Cosmetology. Kay operated the beauty salon in Alden when it was still connected to the Harry Hazel Hotel. On October 30, 1964 Kay was united in marriage to Roland O. Hanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The couple lived in Albert Lea for 29 years where Kay worked at St. John's Lutheran Home as an aide in laundry care. In 1993 they moved back to Alden. Kay was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Alden serving as a Trustee and on the PPR committee. She also served on the St. John's Employee Council and was a member of the Alden Legion Auxiliary. Kay volunteered for the Alden Blood Mobile and Alden Area Food Shelf. She enjoyed walking, gardening, bird watching, yard work, reading, going to movies and especially spending time with her friends. Survivors include her cousin and special friend, Maxine Kleinschrodt and her husband Tom, their children, Brittany Fawcett, Jacob Fawcett and Emma Kleinschrodt all of Alden; niece, Cindy Seipp and her husband Nyle of McHenry, MD, their children, Weston Seipp and fiancé, Sharlene, Mateo and Aaron Seipp; nephew, Steve Hinkley of Alpharetta, GA, his children, Paige and Lauren Hinkley; sister-in-law, Veda and Don Harris of Albert Lea, their children, Bob and Mary Harris of White Bear Lake, Al and Tera Harris of Albert Lea and Paula and Steve Buege of Manhatan Beach, CA. Kay was preceded in death by her mother, Elaine in 1996; father, Bernard in 1963; husband, Roland in July of 1994; sister, Sharon in 1981; brother, William in infancy; and brother-in-law, George Hinkley in 1996. Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice or Alden United Methodist Church.
