Kathryn (Katie) Toot

Kathryn (Katie) Toot, 65, passed away at her home in Albert Lea on Saturday, April 26, 2025. A celebration of life will be held from 11 to 1 on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea.

Katie was born on May 1, 1959 in St. Paul, MN to Michael Flanigan and Sandra (Kent) Flanigan. Katie grew up in St. Paul, where she graduated from Johnson Senior High School. She then moved to Albert Lea where she met her husband Kevin and they were married on August 20, 1983. To that union, they had three children; Kris, Daniel, and Kayleen.

Katie worked many jobs but Food-N-Fuel was how everyone got to know her and her sassy sense of humor! She then moved on to work at Trail’s Travel Center and lastly the Co-op before her retirement.

In her free time, she loved to spend time with her family and going camping, and watching her husband and brother-in-law race stock cars back in the day. She was also a collector of Mickey Mouse and hummingbirds.

Katie is survived in death by her children Kris (Scot) Wood, Danny (Kristan Slowinksi) Toot, and Kayleen (Cory) Peterson. Grandchildren Alivia Baldwin, Bailey Wood, Adam Cottrell, Abel Peterson, and Ariel Peterson. Brother Terry Flanigan; sister Patricia (Chad) Boone. Brother-in-laws Brian Toot, Darin (Dawn) Toot; sister-in-law Luann (David) Wager. Her fur babies Henry and Daisy; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Katie is preceded in death by her husband Kevin Toot, parents Michael and Sandra Flanigan, and her in-laws Roger Toot, and Joann Toot.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful, loving care they provided, and also to Kristan Slowinksi.

Memorials are preferred to the family.
