Judy Nielsen

Funeral services for Judy Ann Nielsen, age 50, of Albert Lea will be held 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Milton Ost will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  

Judy died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Judy Ann Nielsen was born on July 31, 1960 to Donald, Sr. and Marilyn Brandt in Albert Lea.  She grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1978.  She went on to Michael’s School of Cosmetology graduating in 1985 and then attended the nursing program at Riverland in Austin graduating in 1987.  She had several nursing positions, most recently at St. John’s Lutheran Home.  Judy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.  She was also very proud to be a member of AA for the last 20 years.  Judy enjoyed collecting baseball cards and Barbie dolls.  She especially liked spending time with her best friend Tami Rudy, going fishing and to the casino.  Family was very important to Judy and she treasured the time spent with family and friends.  She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her sons, Donald Kimber “JR”, and Adam Churchill; granddaughter, Lily; father, Donald Brandt, Sr.; grandmother, Mildred Hopperstad; sister, Cindy (Hiep) Nguyen; brother, Donald Brandt, Jr. and wife Rhonda; nephew, Alan (Gabriela) Nguyen; nieces, Amy Nguyen, Sarah Brandt, Ashley and Wesley; great-nephew, Christian Nelson, Liam Nguyen and Aleah Nguyen; and many, many friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Brandt; twin sons at birth; Grandfather Brandt and Grandmother Brandt, Grandfather Hopperstad, and previous husband, Donald Kimber, Sr.
