Funeral services for Joseph George Bauman, age 92, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday May 20, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Tom Biatek will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Joe died on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Cedars in Austin.
Joseph George Bauman was born on July 7, 1922 in Hartington, NE, the son of Henry and Frances (Ketter) Bauman. He grew up in Nebraska and Yankton, SD where he attended school through the ninth grade. He worked at the Land-O-Lakes chicken processing plant, Harts Appliance, Donovanâs Elevator, Freeborn Foods, Wilsons, and retired from the Red Owl food distribution warehouse. Joe was a 50-year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching pro wrestling, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He married Gladys Naomi Wilson on October 21, 1941. Gladys passed away in June of 2001. He married June Blade in June of 2008, and she passed away in October of 2012.
Survivors include his children Robert (Alberta) Bauman of Rochester, Lorraine (Joe) Haddy, of Owatonna, Delores Spilde of Pine Island, Kenneth (Georgette) Bauman of Andover, Richard Bauman of Albert Lea, Gary Bauman of Salem, OR, Stanley (Melissa) Bauman of Pace of , FL, and Curtis Bauman of Austin; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters Eunice Myers and Phylis Weixeldorfer, both of Blue Springs, MO; and nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Gladys and June, sister Delores White, son-in-law Michael Spilde, brothers-in-law Floyd Wilson, Evert Wilson, Bill White, Don Myers, and Fred Weixeldorfer; and sisters-in-law Wilma Follmuth and Phylis Wilson.
