John Lee Walls

Funeral services for John Lee Walls, age 69, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Grady Walls will officiate.  Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by Freeborn County area veteran’s organizations.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19th at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.  

John died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at his home after a short illness.

John Lee Walls was born on April 25, 1942 to Clinton and Liana (Stowe) Walls in Lamar, OK.  John grew up in Pittsburgh, California and graduated from Pacifica High School in Pittsburgh, CA.  John served in the United States Navy from 1960-1966.  In September of 1965 he married Diane Haukoos and they later divorced.  On November 11, 1983 John married Carol Nelsen. The couple resided in Albert Lea.  Throughout John’s career he worked for various companies, including MI Water and most recently was assistant manager of Hardees.  John’s favorite pastime was working on his computers.

Survivors include his wife Carol; children Lonna (Richard) Tweeten, Lanette (Curt) Maser, Lori Nelsen and Robi Nelsen; grandchildren Jacob Tweeten, April McCormick, Jessica Tweeten, Matthew Tweeten, Corey Maser, Amanda Maser, Trevor Maser, Emma Maser and Brianne Nelsen; brothers, Jack, Leo, Gene and Grady Walls and their families; sister Mildred Young and her family; mother and father-in-law John and Dolores Johnson.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Richard Walls.
