Jeanette C. Fleming was born on April 12, 1924 in Hollandale, MN., the daughter of Hans C. and Hencina Metta Nelson Andersen. Jeanette attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School. After graduation, Jeanette began working for the Pentagon's Adjutant Generals Office in Washington, D.C. and then for the State of Minnesota War Manpower Office in St. Paul. It was at Macalester College where she met pilot-intelligence officer USAF Europe, Wendell Morgan Fleming Sr. They were united in marriage on August 4, 1945 in Enid, Oklahoma. After the death of her husband in 1953, Jeanette returned to Albert Lea where she worked for Motor Supply Company until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for all of her Albert Lea years. Jeanette was a past president and long serving member of the Albert Lea Business and Professional Women's Organization, the Danish Brotherhood and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Jeanette was a life long Democrat activist involved in many campaigns; US Senator Warren Magnuson and Adali Stevenson's Presidential campaign and the Freeborn County Chair and State committee member for HHH"s last US Senate campaign. Jeanette is survived by her children, Nancy Fleming and Morgan Fleming. Grandchildren, Christina Norton, David Norton Jr., Marnie Fleming, Lindy Fleming McGuire, Whitney Fleming and Alison Scott. Great-grandchildren, Jordan Scott-Weiner and Amalia Marie Norton. Sister; Helen Sydnes and nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wendell Morgan Fleming, brothers, Foster and wife Ferne Anderson and Richard Anderson, sisters; Eleanor Wegner and Sylvia Anderson and brother-in-law, Earl Sydnes. Memorials preferred to the Albert Lea High School Scholarship Fund.
