Janet Gertrude Tukua was born August 16, 1919, to LeRoy and Maggie Pollock Marlin in Hartland Township. She was a resident of Freeborn County her entire life. Janet graduated from Albert Lea High School and was employed as a housekeeper for several families as well as taking care of the family home. On July 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ellsworth Tukua at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Janet was a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle. She was financial secretary of the Church for 26 years and also was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Tukua Drainage. Janet loved being a wife and a mother to her children. She will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor and much enjoyed and appreciated culinary talents. She is dearly loved by her family and memories of her will be forever cherished. Survivors include her husband, Ellsworth of Hartland; son, Lowell and his wife Deborah Tukua of Tennessee; daughters: RuthAnn and her husband, Bruce Langlie of Hartland, Kathryn and her husband, Dougal Huntington of Shakopee, and Helen Tukua of Albert Lea; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
