James Howard Oberg was born on September 2, 1921 in Twin Lakes the son of Ed and Addie Nelson Oberg. He grew up in the Twin Lakes area and attended Wadsworth School District #48 in Glenville. James served in the United States Navy during WWII. On September 24, 1942 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Goodrich in Glenville. James worked as a truck driver for Murphy Trucking until his retirement. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and also a 62-year continuous member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW. James enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, hunting and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his son, Barry and his wife Fern of Rochester; grandchildren, Anjie and husband Keith Bowman and Scott and wife Tracy Oberg; great-grandchildren, Austin Jones, Zayne Bowman, Brianna Bowman, Christopher Oberg and Marisa Oberg; brother, Emil and wife Anna Oberg; sister Pearl Amundson; brother-in-law, William Neff all of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Shirley Oberg of Walters; and many special nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; brothers, Frank and Edward; brothers-in-law, James Amundson, Edison Goodrich, and Walter Oakland; sisters-in-law, Goldean Neff, Janice Goodrich and Helen Mae Oakland.
