James Walter Locke

James was born on July 12, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to Walter and Elizabeth (Schiemk-Tramby) Locke. He grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota and attended Bemidji High School. After graduating he immediately joined the work force and worked as a truck driver until retiring in 2007. He married the love of his life Janet (Yauger) Locke and together they had four wonderful children.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, vacationing in Bemidji every Summer, visiting friends and family. Fishing was his favorite activity by far and he took every opportunity he could to go out to Bemidji to fish. He especially loved taking the kids North to fish together.

James is survived by his wife Janet Locke of Albert Lea; son James B. Locke of Austin; daughters Theresa Webinger of Winona, Jennifer Locke (Ryan Arbuckle), and Tammy Yauger of Albert Lea; sister Dorothy Locke (Butch Pavek) of Northfield, MN; aunt Eleanor Johnson of Bemidji, MN; uncle Earl Locke of Montanna; brother-in-law Michael (Sherry) Yauger of LeSauer, MN; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elizabeth Locke; brother John Locke; infant daughter Marie Ann; and two infant grandsons.

James Walter Locke, age 79, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 1PM at 807 Minnie Maddern St. in Albert Lea.
