Inge Rhiger, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on April 13, 2025 at 2PM at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home.
Inge was born on April 26, 1932, in Giessen, Germany, to Willi and Paula (Kreiling) Bellof. She grew up in Germany, where she received her education and worked as a bookkeeper. It was there that she met Andrew Rhiger, the love of her life. The two married on January 2, 1954, in her hometown. The couple were married for 61 years and had four children. Inge loved to travel with her family and friends, especially to Germany. She opened her heart and her home to everyone and treated them to her German cuisine. She was an active member of the Sons of Norway and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her sons, Allen (Pamela) Rhiger of Mapleton, Minnesota; Gordon (Paula) Rhiger of Rexburg, Idaho; and Scott (Anna) Rhiger of San Antonio, Texas. She was a devoted grandmother to Steven (Tiffany) Rhiger, Brandon (Dustee) Rhiger, Liz (Evan) Doherty, and Zachary Rhiger, and a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Inge was preceded in death by her parents, Willi and Paula Bellof; her brother, Gerhardt; her husband, Andrew Rhiger; and their beloved daughter, Pamela Rhiger.
Memorial contributions in Inge’s honor may be made to St. Croix Hospice.
