Ila Marlene Hibbard was born on November 14, 1933 in Alexandria, MN, the daughter of Albin and Edith (Sizer) Dahlstrom. She grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1951. She went to Nursing School at Abbott Northwestern School of Nursing, graduating as an R.N. On November 21, 1954, Ila was united in marriage to Chesley F. Hibbard at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Ila worked as an R.N. for Abbot Northwestern and later Naeve Hospital. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, the Elks Lodge, the Naeve Hospital Alumni Association, and the Sunset Saddle Club. Ilaâs hobbies included bowling, cooking, horses, and being active in a neighborhood circle. At First Lutheran Church she was a volunteer with the ladies circles. She spent several years as a volunteer for both the American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross. She especially enjoyed travel, spending time with her family, playing cards and dominos.
Survivors include her children Mike (Denise) Hibbard, Jon (Misty Volk) Hibbard, and Jay (Jolene) Hibbard, grandchildren Erin, Ian, Ryan, Kalsey, Laura, Lynsey, and Kayla.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, and her husband Chesley.
