Memorial services for Hilbert LeRoy Voigt, age 85, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November16, 2015 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate and Military Honors will be accorded by members of the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Private interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Wells. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Hilbert died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.
Hilbert LeRoy Voigt was born on August 25, 1930 in Alden, the son of Oscar and Helen (Meyer) Voigt. He grew up in Alden and graduated from high school there. Hilbert was a member of the Lutheran Church. From 1951-53 Hilbert served his country in the US Army. On October 17, 1954 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Hendrickson in Wells. Hilbert worked for the city of Fridley as a Police Sergeant. He enjoyed construction, woodworking listening to music and reading. Blessed be his memory.
Survivors include his daughter Jacki Flanders, grandchildren Samantha and Dilon Flanders, brother Melvin (Margaret) Voigt, sisters Marvine Segar and LaDonna Seipp, sisters-in-law Deloris Bennett and Myrna Schulz, and many nieces and nephews.
Hilbert was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine, his daughter Juli Ann Rose, son Randy L.Voigt, his parents Oscar and Helen Voigt, sister Melva (Tony) Pierce,brothers Mervon (Blenda) Voigt and Marlin (Wilma) Voigt, brothers-in-law Francis Segar, Roy Seipp, Ellsworth Bennett, Donald Schulz, Roger Hendrickson and David Hendrickson, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Rose and Jule Hendrickson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project.
