Henry was born on November 3, 1935 to Frederick William and Jacoba DeGroot Schaper in rural Bricelyn, MN. He graduated from Kiester High School in 1953 and Mankato Commercial College in 1967. Henry served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He married Lorraine Schnoor on November 19, 1960 at St. Paul's Church in Minnesota Lake. Following his discharge from the Army Henry worked for Flogstad's Bakery in Kiester. Later, he went to work for Vern Strand and worked as an accountant for that company for the next 33 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks and American Legion. Henry was also a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the Sertoma Club where he served as past president, a life member and district governor. Henry enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his spare time. Family was very important to Henry. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren participate in various activities. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Albert Lea; son Wes Pam Schaper of Waseca; grandchildren, Sam and Abby Schaper of Waseca, and Heather Jellum of St. Cloud; brother-in-law, Harold Karen Schnoor of Minnesota Lake; sister-in-law, Jean Neil Groskreutz of Wells; and several nieces and nephews. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Branderhorst; brother, Fred Schaper; mother and father-in-law, Sylvia Brigger and Eldern Schnoor.
