Helyn Marie Langlie was born on Feb. 11, 1920 in Freeborn County the daughter of Richard and Christine (Christensen) Hanson. She attended Baarson Rural School and then Ellendale High School. On Oct. 26, 1935 she was united in marriage to Athan Langlie at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Helyn was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on their farm. She was a member of âFlying Farmersâ where she served as their Queen in 1962. Helyn also was a radio correspondent for KRFO in Owatonna for 7 years. Her church was very important to her where she served as President in 1964-1965 of the FLCW, taught Sunday School and active wherever she was needed in the church. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing her strawberries and crocheting.
Helyn is survived by her children: Barbara (Dale) Mrotz, Jerry (JoAnne) Langlie, Bruce Langlie and Julie Langlie. Grandchildren: Monty (Toni) Mrotz, Lisa Morin, Victor (Kellie) Mrotz, Dan Mrotz, Cody Blouin and Jason Langlie. Great-grandchildren; Mikkel Iverson, Jami Marzolf, Victoria Mrotz, Hudson Mrotz, Sophia Mrotz and Justin Mrotz. Great-great-grandchildren; Tyler Iverson, Ethan, Logan and Riley Marzolf. Sisters; Carole Schember and Phyllis (Eugene) Hagen. Sisters-in-law; Phyllis Hanson, Henrietta Lee, Sylvia Langlie and Stella Langlie. Many nieces and nephews.
Waiting to greet Helyn in her new heavenly home are her parents, husband Athan in 2004, infant son in 1937, grandson Levi Blouin in 2006, brother Paul Hanson and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
