Helen Francis Schlede was born on June 7, 1916 to Frank and Ermyl Field Florian in Sand Hills, NE. She graduated from Coffey High School in Coffey, MO in 1934. In 1935 she was united in marriage to Edward Schlede. The couple lived several locations traveling the Midwest system of the Rock Island Railroad where Edward worked as a lineman. They moved to Albert Lea in 1941 where they raised their son, Ed. Helen was a very active member of the First Baptist Church. She had served as a Cub Scout den mother and in later years she was the Sr. Citizens director for 2 years and then manager of Sr. Courts for a few years. Helen enjoyed the time she spent on the farm, she also enjoyed traveling and quilting. Survivors include her son, Edward and wife Jean Schlede of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Randy Angie Schlede and children, Luke and Abby of Rosemount, MN, Dustin Schlede and daughter Emma of Austin, MN, Don Dana Warner and daughter Alice and step-grandchildren Michael and Sheila all of Odessa, FL and Marie Staiger of Scotsdale, AZ; and one brother, William Florain of Costa Rica. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward in 1977.
