Helen Marie Katzung

Helen Marie Katzung was born on April 28, 1927 to Merton and Olga Swanson Bickford in Albert Lea. Helen grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1945. On May 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Raymond M. Katzung at Salem Lutheran Church. Helen was a lifelong active member of Salem Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Raymond; children, Nancy James Devine of Plymouth, MN, Brad Claire Katzung of Edmond, OK, and Reid Karen Katzung of Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Lauren, Jennifer, Melissa and Christopher; step-grandchildren, Tonia and Dannielle; step-great-grandchildren, McKayla, Drew, Luke, Alyssa and Harrison; sisters, Dorothy Zitterow of St. Paul, Joan John Edwards of New Richland, and Judy Gary Johnson of Ellendale; sisters-in-law Mary Paul Thompson of Albert Lea and Bette Lowell Tonding of St. James, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Merton and Olga Bickford; sister, Barbara Christensen; niece, Lori Zitterow, and nephews, Toby Zitterow and Kim Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran Church.
