Helen Marie Christensen

Memorial services for Helen M. Christensen, age 86, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Elizabeth Endicott will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Helen died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
Helen Marie Christensen was born on July 30, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Harry and Ada (Lewis) Wilson. She came to Minnesota with her family as a girl. Helen was a graduate of Austin High School. She worked for the Kasson Café where she met her husband, John F. Christensen. After their marriage the couple lived in various communities around Albert Lea, eventually settling in Albert Lea. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Eagles Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Helen and John enjoyed dancing. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her daughters Sharon Bartow, Sandy (Larry) Arnault, Carol (Randy) Koening, Judy Sward, and Tammy (Jeff) Harder; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Bogdanish and Donna Whelan; and nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, brother Ronnie and sisters Lorraine and Heidi.
