Harriet Louise Caroline Butenhoff was born September 2, 1915 to Henry George and Emma Elisa (Schmidt) Schmidt in Mansfield Township. Harriet grew up in Mansfield Township on a farm and attended District 74 School. On August 18, 1934 Harriet was united in marriage to Elmer George Butenhoff at the Mansfield Lutheran Parsonage. She worked for Stampers and Land o Lakes. Harriet was a member of Mansfield Lutheran Church and for 75 years was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and reading. Harriet loved making quilts and she made many for her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Gerald (Nina) Butenhoff, Marlys (Mike) Jensen, Keith Butenhoff, Lois (Ron) Martinson, Ruth (Dean) Johnson, Roger (Diane) Butenhoff and Twyla (George) Bruns, son-in-law, Gene Johnson; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Verona Boe and Irma Steele and many nieces and nephews.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; daughter, Helen Johnson; daughter-in-law, Darlene Butenhoff; great-granddaughter, Angela Johnson and sister, Linda (Leon) Toenges and brothers-in-law, Melvin Steele and Roger Boe.
