Harold C. Carroll

Harold Cyril Carroll was born on October 18, 1939 in Glenville, the son of Cyril and Marjorie Torgeson Carroll. He graduated from Glenville High School in May of 1958. He attended Barnes School of Commerce and the Mile-Hi Reporting School in Denver, Colorado. Harold served in the U. S. Army Medical Corps from 1959-1962. On March 30, 1963, Harold was united in marriage to Judith "Judy" Ann Lind in Altura, Colorado. Harold worked as a chief rate clerk for Garrett Freightlines in Denver, as an office manager for Brady Motorfrate in Des Moines, Iowa, and as a store manager for Acme Piano and Organ in Marshalltown and Ames, Iowa. He was the Director and Manager of the Senior Advocacy Program for Senior Resources of Freeborn County for twenty plus years. Harold was a member of the Glenville United Methodist Church, the Sons of Norway, Normanna Lodge #52, the American Legion Post #56, and a life-time member of the VFW Post 9459 in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Harold loved music. He directed the church choir at one time and also the Normanna Singers. One of his favorite pastimes was writing. He wrote songs, poetry, articles, and short stories. One of his short stories took first place for the State of Minnesota and first place in national competition where he received a gold medal from the Department of Veteran's Affairs. He loved spending time with his family and traveling. Survivors include his wife Judy of Glenville; children Roger Carroll of Lisbon Falls, Penni and her husband R. J. Mueller of Ellendale, Michael and his wife Angie Carroll of Glenville, and Timothy Carroll of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren Amber and Miranda Carroll, of Lisbon Falls, Jordan, Matthew, and McKenzie Mueller of Ellendale, and Nathan and Logan Carroll of Glenville; Half-brother Larry and his wife and family from Mason City; half-sisters Michelle and her husband and family of Michigan, and Marsha and her husband and family of Iowa. Harold was preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Marjorie Carroll, his grandparents, his brother Roger, sister Janet, half-sister Margaret, and granddaughter Heather Carroll in infancy.
