Gordon Allen Hacker

Gordon "Gordie" Hacker, 88, passed away on Friday, June  14, 2024 at the St. Johns Woodlands campus in Albert Lea, MN.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11am at the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in rural Joice, Iowa.  A public visitation will start at 9:30 the morning of the service at the church.  Paster John Olson will be officiating.

Gordon Allen Hacker was born on September 27th, 1935, to Max and Mable Hacker in Vincent, Iowa. Gordie’s family moved to a farm west of Emmons in 1936. Gordie had remained in Emmons during his entire life. 

 Gordon attended country school, outside of Emmons through 8th grade. He then attended and graduated from Emmons Public High School in 1954. 

 In 1958 Gordon was drafted into the United States Army, during his time in the service he spent 15 months in Germany. Gordon was honorably discharged in 1960. 

 In the fall of 1964 Gordie was introduced to Jeanne Witham, and most of their dates were spent at the Skateway Roller Rink in Albert Lea. On June 11th, 1966, they were united in marriage at the Lime Creek Lutheran Church in Emmons, MN. They had two children, Tamie (Jason) Brock of Forest City, IA, and Brad (Jenny) Hacker of Lake Mills, IA. 

Gordon was a forklift operator for Winnebago Ind. for 20 years where he retired in 1999. He was also a part of the Emmons Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a part of the Emmons American Legion and Leland VFW. 

Gordon had many hobbies and enjoyed living life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking, participating in card club, and doing word searches. His family was his pride and joy in life. He enjoyed going camping with friends and family. Most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne Hacker; children Tamie (Jason) Brock and Brad (Jenny) Hacker; brother Raymond (Marlys) Hacker; sister-in-law Wendy (Barry) Bendickson, and brother-in-law Rick (Lisa) Witham; grandchildren Michael (Jeni) Froendt, Samantha (Adam) Froendt, Jennifer Brock, Khira (Michael) Hacker, Max (Carissa) Hacker, and Madison Henderson. Great-grandchildren Drew, Owen, Colson Froendt, Ava and Asher Hacker, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Gordon is proceeded in death by his parents Max and Mable Hacker; brothers Albert (Helen) Hacker, Frank (Bette) Hacker, Andrew (Darlene) Hacker, Carl (Elsie) Hacker, Robert (Mary) Hacker; sisters Myrtle (Morris) Spires, Maxine (Lester) Helland, Edythe (Duane) Thompson; brother-in-law Wayne Hopkins and sister-in-law Marilyn Heimdal; along with several nieces and nephews.
