Glen A. Ballandby was born August 6, 1925, to Ole and Mabel Orpen Ballandby in Kensett, IA. He graduated from Kensett High School. Glen attended the University of Iowa after serving in the United States Army and during World War II. In September 1952, he was united in marriage to Ruth Overgaard. After their marriage, Glen married Eileen Koester June 1979, in Albert Lea. Glen was employed at Edward's Mfg. in Albert Lea for many years, retiring in 1990. Glen enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking, dancing and traveling to Norway. He especially enjoyed spending time with those he loved. Glen will be remembered for his friendly smile and Norwegian conversations. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his children: Julie and husband, David Mumaugh of Denver, CO, Lisa and husband, Daniel Medd of Albert Lea, Sandra and husband, Timothy Hassing of Owatonna, Sheila and husband, Alan Helgerson of Albert Lea, Heidi and husband, Myron Lewis of Colorado, and Chad and wife, Jodi Ballandby of Willmar; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice and her husband, Jack Crow and Odonna and her husband, Leon DeRock, all of Mason City; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dear friend and companion of over 14 years Marcella Marcie Severson. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randee; grandchildren, Katie, Wyatt and Josh Medd; and his wife, Eileen. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice or donor's choice. Blessed be his memory.
