Gladys B. Roelofs

Grada "Gladys" Berdina Roelofs was born May 7, 1913, to Albert and Grada Wilhemena Godeke in Pease, MN, where she also attended grade school. On May 15, 1940, Gladys was united in marriage to Henry Roelofs at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. She farmed with her husband and owned the Home Cafe in Hollandale until their retirement. Gladys was a member of the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church where she was very active in the Ladies Aid. She also was a participant in the Bible Study Fellowship. Gladys enjoyed quilting, sewing, and baking. Survivors include her son, Gary and his wife, Sandy Roelofs of Edina; daughter, Connie and her husband, Elvin Steensma of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren: Shelly and Brooks Larson of Lakeville, Mike and Kimberly Roelofs of Apple Valley, Tonya and Lane Goos of Johnston, IA, Shannon Steensma of Albert Lea, and Stephanie and Shawn McCarthy of Albertville, MN; great-grandchildren: A. J. and Benjamin Larson, Taylor and Reagan Roelofs, and Sydney McCarthy; sisters, Jean Nienoord of Hollandale and Frieda DeJong of Artesia, CA; brothers, Bill and his wife, Lois Godeke of Albert Lea and Bernie and his wife, Alice Godeke of Hollandale; sister-in-law, Grace Godeke of Milaca, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorials are preferred to the Prairie Manor Nursing Home, the Hollandale Christian School, or the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church.
