Gladys Wayne Olson

Gladys Wayne Olson was born on January 18, 1912 in Geneva, MN to Carl J. and Hannah Jacobsen Wayne. She moved to Albert Lea in 1921 and graduated from Albert Lea High school in 1929. Gladys attended Dana College and graduated in 1932 with her 2 year teaching certificate. On July 3, 1938 she was united in marriage to Martin S. Olson at Trinity Lutheran Church. Gladys was employed as the office manager/bookkeeper for Interstate Power Company and also for the Drug Supply Co., retiring in 1975. After retiring, Gladys and Martin spent 5 months each year for twenty years in McAllen and Mission, Texas. Gladys was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in various groups including Sunday school teacher, Sunday school secretary, Altar Guild, secretary of the Ladies Group, Mission Circle and Bible Study. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making Christmas ornaments at the holidays. Survivors include her children, John Olson of Mineral Point, WI, and Suzie Darrell Hensel of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Jaclyn Kevin Hanson of Albert Lea and their children, Levi and Wesley, Jay Hensel of Albert Lea and Keith Hensel of Albert Lea; special niece, Carole LeMoyne Eggum of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; sisters, Walborg Wayne, Ruby Wayne Connors, Ingeborg Wayne Hellie, and Ethel Wayne Christensen; brothers, Oscar Wayne, Alvin Wayne and twin brothers in infancy.
