Geraldine Rosetta (Rebelein) Sauke, age 95, passed away July 9, 2024. A private family memorial service will be held.
Geraldine Rosetta Sauke was born in Alden Township on April 19, 1929, to John and Hulda (Scherb) Rebelein. She lived in Freeborn County her entire life and received her schooling at District 81 School. On November 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Maynard Sauke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Walters, MN. From this union, 4 children were born. Maynard and Geraldine made their home on a farm near Conger and farmed for thirty years. In 1984, they moved to Albert Lea. Maynard passed away on February 6, 1999, and Geraldine continued to live in Albert Lea until the time of her death.
Through her life, Geraldine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Walters, Mansfield Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She was active in the Women of the Church and taught Sunday School at Mansfield Lutheran and sewed with the Happiness is a Blanket group at First Lutheran. In her free time she enjoyed reading, cross stitching, sewing, embroidery, cooking and baking.
Geraldine is survived by her sons, Duane (Debra) Sauke, Leon Sauke, and Kent (Debbie) Sauke; daughter, Joette Wersal; grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney, Nicholas, Klint, Gunther and Jay; great grandchildren, Abigail, Zoey, Evelyn, Archie, Aidan, Brittyn, Christopher and Taylor; Sister, Marilyn (Kenneth) Haukoos; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; Parents, parents-in law; sisters Virginia and Loretta; brothers Floyd and Seigmund; son in law, Andy Wersal; grandson, James Wersal.
