Gerald Hansen

A gathering of family and friends for Gerald D. Hansen (“Jerry-Iceman”), age 96, of Albert Lea will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.  Friends are invited to visit with the family and share a meal at that time.  Military Honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations. Gerald died Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Community.

Gerald D. Hansen was born on June 19, 1921 in Freeborn County, the youngest of four children to Julies and Lila (Baker) Hansen.  He grew up and attended school in Mansfield and Albert Lea.  Gerald served in the U.S. Army from December of 1945 through July of 1947.  On November 15, 1958, Gerald was united in marriage to Doris Erdman.  Gerald drove truck for Scotsman and retired from there.  He also did farm work for Mike Rognes.  He enjoyed watching sports and western shows on tv, bowling, and going to the casino.  Gerald loved all his animals.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Sandi (Rod) Christensen; granddaughter, Angie Christensen; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lyle and Les; and sister, Alice.
