Frieda B. Wittmer

July 13, 1920 — May 16, 2005

Frieda B. Wittmer was born July 13, 1920, to Fred C. and Anna Schwemmler Wittmer in Freeborn County. She was baptized on August 20, 1920 by Pastor Eckhoft and confirmed Sept. 2, 1934 by Pastor Neumann. She attended the Conger School and had been a resident of Freeborn County all her life. Frieda had been employed at Oliver Foodland, the Mansfield Store, Clothing Care, and Mrs. Gerry's Kitchen. Frieda retired in October of 1986 an moved to Senior Court where she was involved with crafts and volunteering. She was a lifelong member of Concordia Bear Lake Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and for 29 years had been the secretary/treasurer for the Sunday school. She was also a charter member of the Luther League. Survivors include her brother, Melvin and his wife, Harriet Wittmer of Albert Lea; nephews, Ottmar and his wife, Nancy Wittmer and their children: Heather, Lucus, and Melinda of Wisconsin and Jonathan and his wife, Faith Wittmer and their children, Christen and Breanna of Arizona and Jennifer Wittmer and Kelly Griffen and children, Kelly Ryan and Hailey Marie of Iowa; and nieces, Marlys and Tradasha Wittmer of Malaysia and Gertrude Klein and her son, Marcus of Germany. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruby; sisters-in-law, Therese and Jeanette; and nephews, Eugene and Dieter Klein.
