Floyd Kermit Wangen was born on November 30, 1925 to Nels Albert and Martha Nelson Wangen in Manchester Township. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester, baptized and confirmed at the West Freeborn Lutheran Church. Floyd attended County School District 21. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Phillipines and Japan. Floyd was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman, where in 1985, he received an award for saving a pedestrian from death or serious injury. Floyd was elected to the Softball Hall of Fame in 2002. He was also a member of the Arrowhead Golf Course Association. Floyd enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, playing golf and watching the Minnesota Twins. Survivors include his sister, Helen Bill Aanerud; brothers, Russell Wangen, and Harold Maxine Wangen; sister-in-law, Frieda Wangen; many nieces, nephews and friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Alfred Kaufman, Dora Henry Melander, Florence Chester Hanson, and Arthur Gunderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nels Irma Wangen, Arnold Wangen, Elvin Irene Wangen, Glenn Lila Wangen, Viola Wangen; nephews, Marvin Wangen, Duane Wangen, Gerald Wangen, Ronald Melander and Robert Gunderson. Memorials preferred to West Freeborn Lutheran Church or Crossroads Community Hospice.
