Florence Almeda Stevens was born August 18, 1905, to Nels and Christina Johnson in Owatonna. She grew up in the Owatonna area and then lived in Michigan for a few years before returning to Minnesota. Florence and Anton Bedney were married in Michigan in 1926 and later divorced. In 1947, she was married to Faville Stevens in Northwood, IA. Florence enjoyed crocheting and collecting bears. She crocheted many leis, which were sent to Hawaii for distribution. When Florence became a resident of St. John's she donated her bear collection to the Police Department to give to children. She was a member of Assemblies of God in Ellendale and a volunteer with the Retired Senior's Volunteer Program. Survivors include her children: Evelyn Foster of Tampa, FL, Orville Stevens of Albert Lea, Harriet and her husband, Gary Volding of Hackensack, MN and Grapevine, TX, Bonnie and her husband, Warren Nelson of Texas, and Audrey Hill of Cedar Rapids, IA; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Faville; and a brother and a sister.
