Fern E. Smidt

Fern Estelle Smidt was born June 9, 1927, to Arthur and Eloise Kofstad in Waseca County. She had lived in the New Richland area all her life and graduated from New Richland High School. On May 27, 1952, Fern was united in marriage to Alfred Smidt in Pine Island. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Alfred and her son, Alan and his wife, Shelly Smidt, all of New Richland; brothers and sisters: LeRoy and his wife, Bonnie Kofstad of Hartland, Bernice and her husband, Vern Thompson of New Richland, John and his wife, Patricia Kofstad of Park Rapids, and Harriet Light of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. Fern was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy; and sisters, Ruth Demmer and Adele Foley.
