Evelyn Clara Spilde was born June 9, 1913, to Carl and Emilia Tukua. She attended school in rural Manchester and was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. In 1932, Evelyn married Leonard Stanek, Sr. They were later divorced. She married Victor Spilde in 1946. The couple owned and operated Spilde's Cafe. Evelyn was also employed at Bob's Cigar Store and the Union Center in Albert Lea. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and the Elks Club. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and cards with her friends, and being with her family. Survivors include sons, Leonard and his wife, Sharon Stanek and Carlyle "Conky" Stanek, both of Albert Lea; daughter, Kay and her husband, Phillip Beaver of Byron; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Seberson of Albert Lea and Alma Phillps of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; brothers, Ben and Orville Tukua; and sisters: Illa Metcalf, Inez Gilbertson, Ardis Singer, Lorraine Gorman, and two in infancy.
