Evelyn Ravenhorst

September 19, 1927 — September 23, 2012

Evelyn was born September 19, 1927 to Bert and Gertrude Draayer in Hollandale.  She attended school in Hollandale.  On August 17, 1948 Evelyn was united in marriage to Gerrit Ravenhorst at the Hollandale Reformed Church.  Evelyn spent many years being a homemaker.  She was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church, Church Women’s Circle and Homemakers Club.  Evelyn volunteered for Bible schools, Sunday school and Meals on Wheels.  She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, canning, cooking and baking.  Coffee time with family was very important to her.  Most of all Evelyn enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and family.  
Survivors include her husband, Gerrit Ravenhorst; son, Allan (Pauline) Ravenhorst; daughters, Karen (Dave) Vanderploeg, Paula (John) Heijerman, Paulette (Paul) Heijerman; grandchildren, Michael (Betsy) Ravenhorst, Jeffrey (Stacie) Ravenhorst, Daniel (Holly) Ravenhorst, Amy (Adam) Wacholz, Julie (Patrick) Krommendyk, Ryan (Janelle) Vanderploeg, Jenny (Dustin) Veldkamp, Brian Heijerman, Greg Heijerman (Amber Burkart), Sarah Heijerman, Heather (Aaron) Brack, David (Heather) Heijerman Robert Heijerman; 20 great grandchildren; brother, Wilbur (Patricia) Draayer; sister, Betty (Leonard) Boysen; half brother, David (Pam) Draayer; half sisters, Susan (Bruce) Tabor, Carolyn (Vince) Pieper, Gertie Draayer, Barb (Don) McCollar; sisters-in-law, Darlene Casterton, Doris Draayer, Marvel Beiser, Shirley  Anderson, Bev Diercks, Alice DeBoer;  many nieces, nephews, cousins and three unborn great grandchildren.    
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother Jessie Draayer; granddaughter, Michelle Heijerman; brothers, Henry, James, Robert, John and Raymond Draayer; half brother, Donald Draayer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harko DeBoer, John (Louella) Ravenhorst, Doug (Gert) Peak, and Arlene Draayer.

Memorials are preferred to the Hollandale Christian School or the Hollandale Cemetery Association.
