Evelyn Margaret Bakken

Evelyn M. Bakken was born on August 2, 1924 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Albert and Emma Wangen Erickson. She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1942. On January 30, 1944, Evelyn was united in marriage to Howard Bakken at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church. She worked in the Housekeeping Department at St. John's Lutheran Home, retiring as the Director of Housekeeping in 1995. Evelyn was a lifelong member of West Freeborn Lutheran Church where she had served in various capacities including as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, canning her vegetables and growing roses. She was also well known for her baking. Survivors include her children Richard Bakken of Alden, Sharon and her husband Gary Anderson of Albert Lea, and Roger and his wife Sue Bakken of Alden; grandchildren Troy and his wife Becky Anderson and their children Zachary and Halley, Tami and her husband Jason Johannsen and their children Cody, Adam, and Katie, Michelle and her husband Mike Jellinger and their children Morgan and Jack, Lance Johannsen, and Kris and his wife Danielle Johannsen; her brother Howard and his wife Irene Erickson; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law JoyceVernon Olson, Lola Erickson, Lil Erickson, Arlene Stanley Stadheim, and Myrtle Peterson, and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Emma Erickson, her husband Howard Bakken, her brothers Conrad and Walter Erickson, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
