Ethelyn May Erickson was born May 27, 1914, to Jens P. and Mathilda Nelsen Wyrum. Her parents were born in Denmark and immigrated to the United States. Ethelyn's mother was a homemaker and helped with the farm work. Her father was a farmer who came here to work and met his wife in the States. She married Elmer L. Erickson on October 14, 1938. Ethelyn was self-taught and worked as a bookkeeper at both the Conger and Alden grain elevators.
