Elizabeth Thimmesch was born on December 6, 1923 in Wells, the daughter of Richard and Victoria (Pilacznyski) Schmidt. She grew up and went to school in Wells. On May 8, 1945 Betty was married to Mathias Thimmesch in Owatonna. The couple farmed in the Hollandale area for a few years before buying farmland near Geneva where for 48 years they lived in the home Mathias built. She was a member of St. Aidanâs Catholic Church in Ellendale, the VFW Auxiliary, and a homemakers club. Betty enjoyed sewing, cooking, flower gardening, and volunteering at both St. Aidanâs and St. Maryâs Churches. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her children Catherine Peschon of Emmons, Lorna Gray of Minneapolis, Charles (Paula) Thimmesch of Glenville, Larry (Kristine) Thimmesch of Hubertus, WI, and Colleen (Tim) Thome of Columbus OH; grandchildren David (Hyun Sun) Peschon, Anita (Allen) Miller, Lisa (John) Taylor, Jeania (Mark) Hassel, Christopher John (Heather) Peschon, Kristine Peters, Jerry (Jackie) Raditch, Jeff Raditch, Patty (Mike) vonLoesch, Bruce (Gina) Thimmesch, Cheryl (Paul) Citurs, Mark (Kelly) Thimmesch, Jennifer (Adam) Hooten, Brian Thimmesch, Amanda Thome, Michael (Chelsea) Thome, Merissa (Vincent) Buffum, and Mitchell Thome; 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother Paul Schmidt, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Mathias, her parents, a great-granddaughter Machala, three sisters, a brother and her son-in-law Wayne Peschon.
