Eleanor M. Braun

Eleanor died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.

Eleanor Margaret Braun was born on October 22, 1926 in Pequot Lakes, MN, the daughter of August and Selma (Bauer) Grote.  She grew up in Faribault, MN, graduating from Faribault High School and went on to attend Mankato State University.  She worked as a school teacher and was the owner/operator of the Cubby Hole. Eleanor enjoyed reading, writing letters, and shopping.  She especially liked sitting on the deck watching the birds.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Michael (Paula) Braun, Charles (Julie) Braun, Tim (Kim) Braun, Don (Wendy) Braun, and Cindy (Brad) Haugen; grandchildren, Jenny Westerlund, Angie Finley, Brian Braun, Jared Braun, Jake Braun, Katie Braun, Louis Braun, Alana Braun, Weston Braun, Logan Braun, Nic Gaines, and Ben Haugen; step-grandchildren, Ari, Ella, and Norah; and many great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, August Grote and Selma Schweisthal; and brothers, Harvey Grote, Harold Grote, Luverne Grote, and Michael Schweisthal.
