Elaine Sue Hoffman, 82, of Hollandale MN, passed away peacefully April 7, 2025 surrounded by her family, after a hard fought 25 year battle with MS. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hollandale with Rev. Robert Bailey and Rev. Jesse Krusemark officiating. Visitation shall be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home and for an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at Hollandale Cemetery.
Elaine was born February 25, 1943 in Albert Lea to Pete and Eva (Kraay) Posthumus. Elaine graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1961. After high school she worked for an insurance company in Minneapolis while living with friends. She was married to Barry Hoffman in Hollandale on Dec 4, 1965. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children, Daniel, Carol and Lori. She was active within her church, St. Paul's Lutheran, playing piano and piano duets with the organist for holidays as well as directing and accompanying the children's choir.
Elaine enjoyed playing cards especially bridge, gardening, bowling, skiing, softball and going on snowmobiling trips. She also helped on the family farm. She loved decorating and crafts and co-owned 'Something Special' in Albert Lea with her sister-in-law Diane for many years. She dedicated her life to family.
Elaine is survived by her husband Barry of 59 years. Children, Dan (Beth) Hoffman, Carol (Dave) Buendorf and Lori Hoffman-Kohn. Grandchildren Payton Buendorf and Lauren Buendorf, Treavor Hoffman, Caleb Hoffman and Carly Hoffman, step granddaughter Airika Sneve, and step great granddaughter Ariana Peterson. Brother Richard (Diane) Posthumus and their children Jeff and Greg and great nieces Kristin, Kayla, Mariah.
Elaine was preceded in death by her Parents, Son-in-Law Justin Kohn, Grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
