Eileen M. Thompson

Funeral services for Eileen M. Thompson, age 95, of Ellendale, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, MN.  Rev. Richard Sliper will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Eileen died on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at New Richland Care Center, New Richland, MN.

Eileen Mabel Thompson was born on October 2, 1923 in Ellendale, MN. She was the daughter of Ralph and Mabel (Sawyer) Burshem. Eileen grew up in Ellendale, graduated from Ellendale High School, and was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. On July 28, 1941, Eileen married Arvin Thompson and together they had three children. She loved to bake, especially bread, buns and lefse. She has been inducted into the National Lefse Hall of Fame. Eileen would always bake or cook for someone in the hospital or for the family of someone who had died. She adored babies and little children. She loved to sing and dance, and later in life, loved to watch “Wheel of Fortune.”

Eileen is survived by two sons, Andy and Tim; grandchildren, Julie and Jeff; great grandchildren, Mason, Andie, Max and Gray; sister, Alice Dugan; and many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin; daughter, Julie Ann; sisters, Gladys and Helen; brothers, Donald, Ralph, Dana, Bill, and Allen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
