Duane died Friday, September 30, 2011 at his home. In keeping with Duane’s wishes and his desire to be of help, his body has been donated to Mayo for medical research.
Duane Carlyle Morreim was born on March 26, 1942 to Carlyle and Laneda (Grasdalen) Morreim in Albert Lea. Duane was baptized and confirmed at Central Freeborn Church, he later joined First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove. He grew up on a farm near Manchester and attended school in Albert Lea. After school, Duane enlisted in the United States Air Force, stationed in Texas, California, Illinois and North Dakota. On May 23, 1964 Duane was united in marriage to Janice Jensen at First Baptist Church. Duane worked for the Manchester-Hartland Telephone Company as a repairman. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and also a member of the American Legion. Duane served on the Manchester Fire Department and the Manchester Telephone Board. In his spare time, Duane enjoyed helping Teri with unpacking books at Riverland and helping friends and neighbors with many different projects. Duane liked working with donkey’s and mules, watching bull riding, mowing lawns and tilling gardens. He treasured time spent with his family especially his grandsons. Blessed be his memory.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; daughter and son-in-law, Teri (Mark) Rauenhorst; son, Scott Morreim; grandsons, Michael Rauenhorst and his fiancé, Megan Thompson and Travis Rauenhorst.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Carlyle and Laneda; and one brother in infancy.
